Mayan Abdominal Prenatal Massage

The massage tones the uterine muscles, causing them to coordinate well during labor, and after the birth to prevent hemorrhage. The massage may also increase the number of receptors to accept the powerful contracting hormones delivered from that ancient part of your brain. During the massage, the uterus is aligned within the pelvic bowl, helping the baby pick a good position for the birth, and also virtually eliminates mysterious pains some women experience as their uterus grows. The lower back and pelvic bones are also aligned so that the nervous system can communicate well with the uterus. The massage changes as you advance through the pregnancy, to meet the changing needs of the childbearing woman.

Postpartum Recovery and Healing

Postpartum is a time of physical and emotional adjustments. A new mother’s body undergoes physiological and structural changes as part of healing from labor and birth and to return to her pre-pregnant state.

Mayan Abdominal Therapy during postpartum facilitates recovery. It encourages involution to occur more quickly and efficiently. It supports the uterus and ligaments to return to an optimal position and helps bring the pelvis into balance.

Mayan Abdominal Therapy and self care massage may be resumed at 6 weeks postpartum to address the following:

    • Helps heal Diastasis Recti

    • Addresses pain from low back/sacral/coccyx injuries that can occur during birth

    • Facilitates emotional healing from surgical birth and birth trauma

    • Improves the potential for a successful VBAC

    • Aids to reducing and resolving scar tissue that may have resulted from a caesarean birth

    • Fosters healing from the inside out

Closing The Bones Ceremony

Closing the Bones is a ceremony with a massage and body wrapping at the heart of it. It consists of a massage of the abdomen and uses fabric (a Mexican scarf called a robozo) to rock, bind and close the pelvis. It is a traditional ritual used in Mexico and other parts of Central and South America after women have given birth to support their postnatal recovery. As well as many benefits physically, there is also an emotional and spiritual aspect to the massage too, it provides the mother space to feel nurtured and release emotions associated with giving birth and motherhood. The ceremony can be considerably powerful in helping to heal emotions, even many years after the birth itself.

At Pure Form Healing Arts, I work with you to create a ceremony that best fit your needs. Additional options include:

Limpia-Mexican indigenous traditional cleansing ceremony to support you in clearing energetic stagnation, help break unwanted cords, and align your mind, body and spirit to support you on your path.

Spiritual Bath-this bath helps in the cleansing of the body, mind, emotions, and auric field of inner and outer negativity, and/or stagnant energy that may be causing difficulties at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level. We boil herbs to add to your bathwater and flowers.

Yoni Steam- Postpartum herbs are used to help steam your vaginal canal and bring quicker healing during postpartum. You will sit on a chair provided and steam for 30min.

Postpartum Yoni Steams

Postpartum yoni steaming supports the complete cleanse of the uterus including the lochia, a mixture of blood and mucus. The steam helps loosen and liquify the lochia allowing for its release to occur more quickly and more completely. Clearing out the Lochia: * Helps reduce the chance of infection, of which a fever is often a sign * Reduces postpartum contractions * Helps the uterus get back to size and return to pre-pregnancy position * Helps the menstrual cycle return with a normal, optimal, and pain free period
