What Is Maya Abdominal Therapy and How Can It Support Fertility?

If you’ve ever felt like your body just needs a little extra support on your fertility journey, you’re not alone. Many women come to me feeling like they’ve tried everything, or they’re simply looking for a more natural and nurturing approach to reproductive health.

One of the beautiful modalities I offer is Maya Abdominal Therapy, a gentle hands-on technique that focuses on supporting the health of the abdomen and pelvis.

At Pure Form Healing Arts, I practice the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, which blends traditional healing wisdom with modern anatomical understanding. It’s one of my favorite ways to support clients who want to reconnect with their bodies and nurture their womb health.

So What Exactly Is Maya Abdominal Therapy?

In simple terms, Maya Abdominal Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that focuses on the abdomen, pelvis, and lower back.

This work comes from traditional healing practices in Central America that recognize how important healthy circulation and organ positioning are for overall wellness.

During a session, I use gentle techniques to help encourage better blood flow, lymph movement, and nerve communication to the reproductive organs.

When circulation improves in the pelvic area, the uterus and ovaries often receive the nourishment and oxygen they need to function more optimally.

Why the Position of the Uterus Matters

This is something many people have never heard about.

The uterus is held in place by ligaments inside the pelvis, but different things throughout life can cause it to shift slightly from its ideal position.

This can happen due to things like:

  • Stress and tension in the body

  • Physical strain

  • Pregnancy or postpartum changes

  • Scar tissue

  • Long hours of sitting

When the uterus is not in its optimal position, circulation and lymph flow in the pelvis can sometimes become restricted.

Abdominal therapy works gently with the body to help encourage the uterus and surrounding organs back toward better alignment, supporting healthier flow in the pelvic area.

How This Work May Support Fertility

Many women seek out abdominal therapy because it focuses on creating a healthier environment in the pelvis.

Some of the ways it may support the body include:

• Encouraging healthy blood flow to the uterus and ovaries• Supporting regular menstrual cycles• Reducing pelvic congestion• Helping the body relax and release tension in the abdomen• Improving lymphatic drainage in the pelvic area• Creating a deeper connection to your womb and cycle

While this therapy is not meant to replace medical care, many people choose to incorporate it as part of a holistic fertility support plan.

Who Might Benefit From Abdominal Therapy?

People often come in seeking support for things like:

  • Painful or irregular periods

  • Fertility challenges

  • Pelvic discomfort or tension

  • Digestive issues related to abdominal congestion

  • Postpartum recovery

  • Preparing the body for conception

Every session is personalized, because every body—and every fertility journey—is unique.

What a Session Feels Like

When you come in for a session at Pure Form Healing Arts, we start by talking about your health history, your menstrual cycle, and what you’re hoping to support in your body.

The work itself is very gentle. Most clients find it deeply relaxing and grounding.

I also teach simple self-care techniques you can practice at home so you can continue supporting your womb health between sessions.

One of the things I love most about this work is that it helps people feel more connected to their bodies.

Supporting Your Body in a Gentle Way

Your reproductive health is connected to so many aspects of your well-being—stress, digestion, circulation, lifestyle, and emotional health.

Sometimes the body just needs a little extra support to come back into balance.

Abdominal therapy offers a gentle way to nurture the womb, support the pelvis, and reconnect with the body’s natural rhythms.
